Bailey and Manning star in Salisbury 10

Julian Manning finished third and Dan Bailey secured fourth place in the Salisbury 10 race on Sunday.

A total of 723 athletes battled out an exciting eighth race of the Hampshire Road Race League 2015-16 season.

Bailey led the charge for Havant-based club Victory as he recorded a superb time of 54min 43sec for the 10-mile course.

Manning, of Denmead Striders, ran strongly (54.20).

The race was won by Southampton’s Matthew Revier in a time of 53.51.

Christopher Thomas, who runs for Imperial AC, was second in 54.12 and club-mate James Ellis took fifth (55.09).

Kathy Bailey finished first lady in 1.01.18.

Eastleigh’s Hannah Howard finished first senior lady in 1.02.28.

Erica Fogg, of New Forest Runners, was next (1.05.24) and Lordshill’s Alice Bowles finished in 1.05.44.

Next in for Victory were Paul Mitchinson (14th in 58.20) and David Howard (17th in 59.09), with Michelle Butler their first lady (1.18.01).

Jon Sullivan (59.22), Matthew Cheyney (59.26) and Gary Armstrong (1.00.23) completed the men’s A team for Denmead Striders.

Liz Steward (1.12.34), Kirsty Bailey (1.16.44) and Melanie Hunt made up their ladies’ A team.

City of Portsmouth’s Godfrey Rhimes won the male-60 category (1.07.33).

David Croft, of Gosport Road Runners, finished second in the male-70 category (1.20.23).

Fareham Crusaders were again in strong form with Peter Abrahams (1.00.16), Ian Edwards (1.03.19), David Fleet (1.04.19) and Karen Willsher (1.13.19) leading a great club performance.

Richard Bailey, of Portsmouth Joggers (PJC), was second male 50 (1.01.38).

Ben Stait (1.01.50), Tony Conway (1.04.56) and Derek Powles (1.08.14) completed the PJC men’s A team.

Nicky Thomas (1.20.32), Natalie Dillon (1.20.25) and Isabel Gardner (1.49.22) made up the PJC ladies’ A team.

Stubbington’s Mike White finished third male 50 (1.02.02) and Vicky Shaw was the club’s first lady (1.06.56).

Tom Forster (1.03.33), Peter Sexton (1.03.34) and Trish Train (1.11.11), led the way for Isle of Wight Road Runners.
