Chance for athletes to track progress in Portsmouth

HAVANT host their track & field open meeting and club championships at the Mountbatten Centre tomorrow.

The athletics club will be welcoming competitors to the Portsmouth venue in the morning with events including the mile, 100m, 400m, 800m and 3000m.

Track races start with the 300m at 9.45am and finish with the mile, scheduled for 12.15pm.

They will also be putting on field events starting with the hammer at 9.30am and including the high jump, long jump, javelin and shot put.

It’s early in the summer season but this is a valuable chance for athletes to test their form and see how they are progressing ahead of upcoming events like the Hampshire Championships

Entries will be taken on the day for the open meeting but the club would prefer entries in advance.

Meanwhile, the first event of the Lakeside 5k, the popular road race series, is on Wednesday, April 27.

It is five events in total, running until August at Lakeside, North Harbour, Western Road.

The second one is on Wednesday, May 25.

City of Portsmouth and Havant host the races.
