Six of the best for Headen as Fareaham & Crofton beat Havant 2nds to leap into top spot

Headen bagged 6-26 as Havant 2nds were dismissed for 121 to lose by 106 runs at Bath Lane.

Replying to Fareham’s 229-5 total, Ben White struck first when he dismissed opener Julian Atkins (2).

But after that Headen took over, taking the wickets of the other six batsmen in Havant’s top seven.

They included top scorers Simon Loat (24) and Ollie Perkins (19).

Extras (27) was Havant’s top scorer with White (2-17) and Charlie Reynolds (2-18) joining Headen in claiming cheap wickets.

Headen’s previous best figures for Fareham & Crofton had been a 5-25 haul for the seconds against Sarisbury 3rds in 2016.

Earlier, Sam Stoddart and Dan Wimble had scored half-centuries for the second HDL game running.

A fortnight earlier, Stoddart (53 not out) and Wimble (51) had been instrumental in a win against Bedhampton.

This time, Wimble hit another 51 - including seven sixes! - while Stoddart struck 59 off 66 deliveries.

Steve Berryman (33) and Thomas Kent (26) helped the hosts post 229-5, with Max Carter the only Havant bowler with more than one wicket - 2-59 off eight overs.
