Devils suffer home pain and heartbreak at Streatham
Solent Devils suffered two painful defeats in National League south division one last weekend.
The Gosport Ice Arena outfit went down to a 9-3 home loss to Invicta Dynamos on Saturday evening.
And then were rocked by a 5-4 defeat at Streatham Redskins the following day.
Invicta edged ahead after 10 minutes – sparking a run of four goals in 87 seconds.
With Ollie Denis in the bin, Jack Lee and Josh Condren teed up Nicky Lewis to beat Devils stopper Sam Calder.
Thirty seconds later Callum Fowler made it 2-0 but the hosts hit back instantly.
Alex Cole intercepted a pass and fed Mitch Murray, who raced forward before unleasing a slap shot which flew past Damian King.
The flurry of scoring was not over – and just 36 seconds later Steve Osman deflected a shot from Lewis past Calder.
Fowler made it 4-1 a few minutes later before Richard Facey fed Murray to lash home his second of the game.
Eriks Ozollapa, Bailey Wootton and Arran Strawson all added further strikes as Dynamos took control.
And halfway through the final period Ozollapa and Lewis made it 9-2 before Facey hit a late consolation.
The following day, the Solent side took the lead against the Redskins when Ralfs Circenis scored after just 38 seconds.
Cole added a second before Murray made it 3-0.
Redskins hit back after the break as Callum Best netted a hat-trick.
Mason Wild put the Devils back in front at the beginning of the final period.
But the home side had the final say, netting twice in a minute through Chris Wiggins and skipper Joseph Johnston to snatch glory.
The Devils host the Redskins this Saturday (5pm) before Oxford City Stars visit on Sunday (7pm).
