Manager Craig McAllister branded the performance in the 4-2 defeat at Merthyr Town last weekend as unacceptable.

Borough conceded three goals in the opening 20 minutes to gift the Welsh side all three points.

Although the visitors showed some improvement to score twice it proved too little, too late.

Tubbs insists the loss at Merthyr can act as a wake-up call for Gosport.

The assistant manager said: '˜The players came in on Tuesday night and trained really well.

'˜They showed a determination to work hard and try to put things right. They know they made simple, basic errors at Merthyr.

'˜A lack of concentration saw us concede three early goals and there was nowhere back from that.

'˜The players now have a chance to put it right with a game at home.'

Borough won their opening game 3-2 against Kings Langley before losing 1-0 at Hartley Wintney.

Tubbs is optimistic the return to Privett Park can bring another success.

The former Pompey striker recognises his players need to show far more resilience, though.

'˜We are going to go behind in games and it is how we react after that which is important,' he added.

'˜The players possess the quality to deal with it. They have to be able to adapt to situations. Once we can do that over 90 minutes then we will get the results.

'˜After winning our opening game there were lots of happy faces. We want to see a lot more of that.'
