Bradbury calls for positive approach from the Hawks

The Hawks remain one place and one point above the drop-zone as they welcome play-off chasing Dartford to Westleigh Park (3pm).

‘We have to start showing what we are made of,’ said Bradbury.

The boss isn’t helped by having to reshuffle his side because central-defender James Haran and striker Shamir Mullings are both suspended.

Up front, Matt Paterson or James Hayter are in line for a recall to the starting line-up.

Because he needs a win, Bradbury may show a more positive approach by including both.

He is also looking to strengthen his squad for the run-in and it is believed he is in talks with George Barker and Andy Robinson.

Both players left financially-troubled Gosport Borough in the last week.

For Bradbury, the priority is winning the next two games which are both at home.

‘We have two home games on the bounce and we will need to be positive to win them,’ said Bradbury.

‘They are big games.

‘We find ourselves at the business end of the season and it is all very tight at the bottom.

‘I reckon we need to win at least four of our last nine games to be safe.

‘First and foremost, we need to win more because draws don’t move you very far.

‘We have been in and around the bottom three for a while now and haven’t been able to pull ourselves away.

‘A couple of wins on the bounce will do us the world of good.

‘We are missing a couple of players but I have every confidence the players coming in can do the job for us.’

With their away form so awful – just one win all season on the road – Bradbury knows his team must capitalise on their remaining home games.

At times he has been criticised this season for being too negative particularly when playing with a single striker at home.

Paterson struggled in that role early in the season and that might tempt Bradbury to play Hayter alongside him up front.

At the back either Lee Molyneaux or Brian Dutton, if fit, will replace banned QPR loanee Haran.

Defensively the Hawks have improved though they are still guilty of odd lapses of concentration which have proved costly.

Defending set-pieces is an area where Bradbury will look for his defenders to remain focused.

The Hawks have moved their next home game against Hayes & Yeading forward to Good Friday evening (7.45pm).
