Catlin: Portsmouth ready to react on deadline day

Mark Catlin admitted there could be a late flurry of deadline-day activity at Pompey.

But the Blues chief executive underlined structured recruitment this summer has left Kenny Jackett in a strong position on the final day of the loan window.

Jackett has landed nine players to leave his squad in a healthy position for the coming months.

Catlin knows you can't legislate for what options become available, however, and Pompey will be ready to react if the right deal comes up.

He said: '˜When clubs do their business well, they tend not to have the deadline-day drama.

'˜With the additions we made in the summer early on we're in a very strong place with the  depth and quality of the squad.

'˜You can never discount anything happening on deadline day, because you could get a call that's a game changer or a deal you can't refuse.

'˜Kenny has that option, but we're not pulling our hair out trying to get something done.

'˜But if there's someone who can bring something different to the team then it will be looked at favourably.'
