Cook takes positives from pre-season opener

Paul Cook refused to be too downbeat about losing a three-goal lead to Sligo Rovers tonight.

Pompey drew 3-3 with the Irish side after being 3-0 up at the break in the testimonial for Gavin Peers.

Cook highlighted it’s all about being ready for Carlisle on August 6, though.

He said: ‘It’s pre season and whether the result is good, bad or indifferent it’s about being ready for the Carlisle game.

‘I’d rather focus on it being a great evening for Gavin Peers.

‘It’s great to come here and fulfil the fixture.
