Duffin had been forced to miss the previous week’s Vase loss to Westbury as he was self-isolating.

The striker scored twice and missed a penalty in the opening 45 minutes after the hosts fell behind to an early River Smith goal.

Duffin now has eight league and cup goals in as many starts this season - only Bashley’s Harry Morgan (12) has more among Wessex Premier players.

Blackfield struck again in the last minute through Fatah Makhlouf but Liam Kimber popped up with a 92nd minute winner.

That stretched Horndean’s 100 per cent home league record to five wins in 2020/21.

‘Blackfield started better than us and took a deserved lead,' said Horndean manager Michael Birmingham.

'It was a bit of a tame goal that we gave away.

'Though we weren't firing on all cylinders, we managed to grab an equaliser.

'Then Conor grabbed his second which was a magical goal.

'He got the ball, rolled his defender and then curled the ball into the bottom corner

'In the second half we should have been at least 4-1 up but failed to put our chances away.

'Connor missed the easiest one he will ever miss.

'All the time they are just a goal behind then Blackfield felt they still had a chance.

'We had kept our shape brilliantly all afternoon but then fell asleep in the final minute.

'Their dangerman scored an equaliser and we thought that was it.

'The players, however, showed great character to go on and win it.'

Two minutes into stoppage time teenager Zak Brownlie saw an effort rebound to Kimber who tucked it away from six yards.

Horndean are in Wessex Premier action again at Alresford Town on Tuesday (7.30pm).
