Paul Doswell's side had been left without a fixture after Altrincham's decision to forfeit their FA Trophy third round tie because of a positive Covid-19 test.

As a result, Hawks approached Eastbourne, who initially turned down the request to play.

However, they have now been ordered to play - much to the annoyance of Bloor.

‘I mean, 48 hours notice to play a league game against Havant - crikey, I can’t say I’m best pleased,' he said.

‘Havant haven’t played themselves since January 2.

'I'm the manager and I got told at lunchtime.

‘It is what it is in every aspect of life at the moment, you just have to do what you’re told, wear your face mask, do what you’re told and just get on with it.

'We have to roll our sleeves up, get our heads down and get on with it.'

Eastbourne started the season well, winning four of their first seven league games.

But they have only won one of their last seven - albeit a 3-1 home victory over table-topping Dartford on December 5.

Chris Whelpdale is their main threat, having signed from NL South rivals Chelmsford last summer.

The midfielder is Boro’s top scorer so far with nine goals, including a debut hat-trick in the FA Cup against Dorking in early October.

Whelpdale was also on target in Tuesday’s 3-2 home loss to Maidstone, the club’s first game in any competition since a December 15 FA Trophy exit at lower division Haringey.
