Oh dear.

Tell me about it, I thought we might win, but there was nothing to that first half apart from a couple of balls over the top.

We were quite flat and looked really off the pace, which was a bit of a surprise.

For three-quarters of that match there was no pace about us and it showed how much we miss Michael Doyle, everything normally goes through him.

How much importance do you give to FA Cup progress?

I am not one of those fans who get too disappointed if we lose, but I would have definitely liked a cup run.

Financially it benefits the club, while we would have expected to beat Wycombe at home.

Having said that, we did not do enough in the game to get a win so must take it on the chin. It was a deserved loss.

Wycombe stopped us from playing and progress into the next round of the FA Cup.

Is there anyone worthy of man of the match?

I would say Gareth Evans, who was asked to play in his best position.

It wasn’t just about him scoring against Wycombe, I like how from the right he gets himself into the box, often coming across to the near post.

He scored 10 goals last season from midfield, but other players don’t get into the box enough.

Carl Baker is tricky, whereas Evans is direct, and I would like Evans to be given a game or two on the right-hand side of that attacking three.

You have to give people a chance to see what they can produce in this team.

What are your thoughts on Paul Cook as manager?

I like him and am happy with how he is doing as Pompey’s boss.

For me, Cook remains the right man for the job, now we just need to get out of League Two.

He can be stubborn, though, he should change his formation at times, especially at home. The opposition can pinpoint how we set up and counteract that, as we’ve seen recently.

And I am not sure we go about it the right way physically in this division.

Still, we move onto the next game.
