The 4-2-3-1 formation has been working pretty well, with possession up, on average around the mid-50 per cent mark.

That's better than earlier in the season when Kenny Jackett was messing about looking at different formations.

Having said that, I think there needs to be a change up front because it has been a bit stagnant, but not too many alterations.

We require a bit more oomph, so let's play Ronan Curtis up front and see what happens. Feed the ball into him and she what he can do as the lone striker.

I'm not Oli Hawkins' biggest fan, I don't think he has a place in the team, I actually wouldn't have him in there at all.

It's his inconsistency, he's just no good for me, I don't think I can trust him 100 per cent every time he plays.

Instead I would love to see Brett Pitman operating as the number 10, feeding Curtis up front, giving him the ball. I'd be quite excited to see that happen.

I want to see what Curtis can do up there, he can finish and we just need a bit more excitement up front. We've already had a fair few shots in the last few games, let's finish them off.

Elsewhere, I'm hoping Anton Walkes will return, I'd prefer to see him replace Nathan Thompson at right-back.

I like Walkes, he's a good player. There's not a lot between the pair of them to be honest, but Walkes has a bit more pace and is sometimes more committed.

Jack Whatmough needs to be recalled, I have a soft spot for Christian Burgess but he is a bit haphazard and gave away that penalty last weekend. He's just not consistent enough.

My other change would be Ben Thompson coming in for Ben Close. I want to see more of Thompson, he's an exciting player.

Pompey (4-2-3-1): MacGillivray, Walkes, Whatmough, Clarke, Brown, Naylor, Ben Thompson, Evans, Pitman, Lowe, Curtis.
