The four first-half goals put them in complete control with the only slight blemish conceding after the break.

This was a fifth cup win this season when you take into account wins in this competition and the FA Vase.

Manager Turnbull was delighted his troops made it through to the semi-finals with a Vase tie against division-higher Brockenhurst to look forward to this weekend.

He said: ‘To come through with no injuries, score four away from home and in the next round of the cup - I couldn’t have been happier really.

‘That’s the semi-final of this cup, which it would be nice to get to a final, and we’ve got the Vase to look forward to.

‘They’re nice to have but the focus is still on the league really.

‘We were very good first half and were 4-0 up.

‘I think just a little bit of ring rust and tiredness crept in.

‘They won the second half 1-0 but we got out of it what we needed which was a win to get through to the next round and some minutes in the legs of some players.'

Seiden's clever chip after being sent through on goal put USP on their way to victory.

Top scorer Franklyn netted his 13th of the season soon after with Seiden then turning provider to Todd to make it 3-0.

There was still time for Seiden to strike again before the break as Turnbull's troops went in four goals to the good.

The hosts did pull a goal back after the restart but US Portsmouth comfortably saw it out to reach the semi-finals.
