Gr-eight day for Paulsgrove – a huge win and no-one nicked any toilet rolls from the clubhouse!

Free-scoring Paulsgrove served up a gr-eight showing to continue their flying Hampshire League Premier Senior Division form - and even managed to keep hold of the toilet roll in the clubhouse!

Wayne Grant's second-placed side made it three games unbeaten with a crushing 8-0 victory against Lyndhurst at Marsden Road.

The recent wet weather and coronavirus concerns failed to stop Paulsgrove getting the game on and they got their rewards.

With just two games left this term, there is hope Grant's men might be able to complete the season.

However, as Covid-19 fears grow, it remains to be seen whether the campaign could be scrapped.

But Grant was just pleased to pick up another three points and that all of the toilet rolls remained intact after a panic buying surge because of coronavirus.

‘We gave them a proper good hiding and 8-0 flattered them if I’m honest,' said a delighted Grant.

‘We could have been out of sight.

‘There were a few people at our game but that was only because other games were called off.

‘We don’t usually have massive crowds at our matches.

‘Hopefully, it will continue.

‘But we’ll take the Hampshire League advice on what to do. If we have to suspend it (the league) then so be it.

‘We had everything stocked up for the games with soaps and sanitisers.

‘The tea hut was well stocked with everything.

‘I don’t know why people are panic buying toilet rolls ... nobody stole any from our place.

‘They all still stayed in place.'

At present, the Hampshire Premier League are leaving decisions as to whether to play matches in the club’s hands.

If this is to continue, Grant and his squad will have no hesitation in fulfilling their final two games.

‘I don’t think it’s anything we fear. If I’m honest, I think it’s been blown up a bit,’ said the boss.

‘It’s always been the same at Paulsgrove, life goes on.

‘You can’t live in a bubble, you’ve just got to carry on.'
