The Blues face Oxford United at Baffin Milton Rovers' PMC Stadium (7pm).

The likes of Danny Rose, Louis Dennis and Luke McGee are expected to feature for Pompey.

Those involved will be hoping to lay down a claim for a starting place ahead of the Blues' trip to Rochdale on Saturday.

And the boss is adamant fringe players can force their way into his plans if they catch the eye.

Jackett said: '˜They definitely can (winning a starting spot).

'˜Number one is the observation of first-team games.

'˜But training and reserve games are always a good source of seeing what type of competition you currently have for the players who have the first-team shirt.'

Jack Whatmough (hamstring) and Anton Walkes (groin) could be handed outings for the reserves against Oxford following their return from injury.
