Millwall boss sees benefits in midfielder's Portsmouth loan move
Neil Harris believes Ben Thompson's loan spell at Pompey will reap rewards for all concerned.
The Millwall boss took in Pompey's 2-1 win against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday as he checked in on his midfielder's progress away from The Den.
And he was impressed with what he saw as Thompson played a key role in the Blues' eighth away win in all competitions this season.
The 22-year-old was handed a recall to the Pompey starting XI, with his past five appearances coming from the bench.
In total, Thompson has played 12 times since arriving on loan from Championship Millwall in the summer.
He has helped Kenny Jackett's side move to the summit of League One as they sit on 30 points from their 13 league games played.
And Harris believes both Thompson and Millwall will benefit in the future from Pompey's eye-catching start to the season.
'˜It was a very good performance in a comfortable team victory,' Harris told londonnewsonline.co.uk
'˜Ben was doing what we know Ben can do.
'˜He is gaining more experience every time he goes on a football pitch.
'˜It is nice when you play in a winning team, it gives you confidence and enables you to express yourself a little more.
'˜Ben has been a good player for us over the last three years since he broke into the first team.
'˜Portsmouth look a strong League One team '“ they are big physically, well-organised and good at set-plays.
'˜They have got some good individual players and an experienced manager in Kenny, who knows the league and how to get out of the league. They'll be a good side.'
