Moneyfields aim for first win of 2020 as striker Rudi Plummer is set for move to Gosport Borough

They have lost four and drawn one of their last five league matches - failing to score in three of them

Their latest defeat at Larkhall on Wednesday left them third from bottom, just two points ahead of Basingstoke Town and Barnstaple.

Moneyfields have games in hand on their closest rivals but must start taking advantage of them if they are not to be dragged into a relegation scrap.

Carter's side were dogged with problems again in midweek as assistant manager Matt Jones's car broke down on the M4 half-an hour away from Larkhall’s ground in Bath.

'Everything seems to be going against us at the moment,' said Carter.

‘I had to rush off and pick up Rudi Plummer and Joe Briggs who were stranded in the broken down car.

'We didn't get back to the ground until bang on the kick-off.

'Then we conceded an early goal, which wasn't the best, from a ball over the top.

'That is what happens when you find yourself going through a difficult spell.

'We need to get ourselves out of it, though it won't be easy against fifth-placed Paulton.

'They are a young but physically strong outfit.

'We must look to try and get something from the game and ideally win it.

'Tough games are coming thick and fast now.

'We have one eye on our massive home game against (rock bottom) Barnstaple next weekend.

'That is a game that we must win.

'At Larkhall I couldn't fault the effort from the players and it was their second goal in the 90th minute that killed us.'

Moneys are boosted by the return of striker Steve Hutchings from holiday.

Carter, however, is resigned to losing Plummer - less than a month after bringing him back for his second Dover Road spell

'Gosport have come in for him and the player wants to go,' said Carter.

'We won't stand in his way.

'I feel that we have the players in the squad to stay up.

'If we continue with our fighting effort then we will be okay.

'It has been tough because we have played four out of the top six in the last three weeks.'
