Last week, Portsmouth Women received a walkover to the final of the Hampshire Senior Cup after semi-final opponents Winchester pulled out just two days before the tie was supposed to be played.

Remarkably, Pompey are through to the final without having actually played a single game as quarter final opponents Warsash also scratched last November.

Now Moneyfields Ladies have been given a bye to the final of the Portsmouth FA Senior Cup after Gosport Falcons pulled out.

There they will play Portsmouth Women, with both teams having only played a single game to get to the final.

Moneyfields thrashed US Portsmouth 12-1 in the only first round tie, before quarter final opponents AFC Petersfield withdrew because they could not raise a side.

Moneyfields are aiming to lift the trophy for the second time in the three seasons they have been going.

Only formed in the summer of 2017, Moneys defeated Portsmouth 2-1 to win the silverware in their first season.

Pompey extracted some revenge last season when they beat Moneys 4-1 at the semi-final stage.

Moneys are currently aiming for their third successive promotion. They have won all eight of their Southern Region Premier games so far.

Another title win would see them elevated to the South West Division of the National League - one tier below Portsmouth.

Moneys visit Newbury this Sunday - their first league game since a 6-2 win at Warsash on January 19 helped by a Sheree Bell-Jack hat-trick.

Jay Sadler’s Pompey side are due to host Crawley in the Southern Premier this Sunday at Gosport’s Privett Park (2pm).

If the game goes ahead, it will be Pompey’s first league game since November 24 and only their eighth of a 2019/20 fixture list savaged by postponements.
