Carter has won all three of his league games against the Southampton club since taking over at Dover Road in October 2015.

In April 2016, goals from Alex Sheppard and Dan Woodward gave Moneys a 2-0 home win in the Wessex League Premier Division.

The following season, when Moneys finished runners-up and won promotion to the Southern League, Steve Hutchings was on target in both games.

The striker netted along with Rob Pittman and Woodward in a 3-2 home win in August 2016, and grabbed the only goal the following March.

Carter also oversaw a 3-0 home win in the Hampshire Senior Cup in 2017/18 when Nathan Paxton (2) and Daniel Nlewedim scored at Dover Road.

Moneyfields have not won in the Southern League Division 1 South since December 7 - last week they were held 0-0 by fellow strugglers Bideford at Dover Road.

Carter said: ‘We need to start putting more points on the board.

'Sholing are in a similar position to us so both teams will be going for it.

'It should be a little different to the Bideford game.

'Bideford arrived with a game-plan not to get beat and we struggled to break them down.

'Being the home side, the onus will be on Sholing so I should imagine the game will be a lot more open.

'They do possess a dangerous strike pairing in Lee Wort and Dan Mason.

'We need to be aware of their threat if we are to get a second successive clean sheet.

'Clean sheets have been a bit of a rarity for us this season.'

That is true - the one Max Flintoft kept against Bideford was only Moneys’ third in 17 league matches in 2019/20.

Moneys have already made one trip to Sholing this season, in a League Cup tie on October 1.

Back then, Lamin Jatta gave the visitors a half-time lead only for the Boatmen to hit back and win 2-1.

Carter resigned as Moneys boss two days later, but after a few weeks of soul-searching returned to the hot-seat.

He is without top scorer Ryan Pennery, who is expected to be out of action for around 10 months with a knee injury sustained against Bideford.
