Moneys want no more cuts... Incentive for Horndean

Blackfield closed the gap to seven points in midweek, so Moneys know it is vital they win at Team Solent tomorrow.

Striker Simmonds, 23, who has played at Petersfield Town and Winchester City this season, is expected to feature alongside Steve Hutchings.

Manager Dave Carter has brought Simmonds in to boost his striker options with Gary Austin and Nathan Paxton suspended.

‘I spoke with Dan at the start of the season but he had already signed for Winchester City,’ said Carter.

‘He had a falling out a Winchester and has been playing at Wick for the last couple of months.

‘The lad is quick, has a good first touch and knows where the goal is.

‘We are looking forward to playing our football on the excellent Team Solent pitch.

‘They can be dangerous opponents but we are looking to get all three points.

‘Blackfield won their game in hand on us in midweek which means our lead at the top is cut to seven points.

‘We don’t want to slip up and allow them to cut it even further.’

The visitors have a few out with Alex Shephard also suspended.

Marley Ridge and Dan Hayes are ruled out by injury.

Moneyfields will find out on Monday night whether the Wessex League intend to hit them with a points deduction.

The club insist they are innocent of any wrong doing after being accused of fielding an ineligible player.

Carter is adamant they left Ash Howes out of the two required games after joining them from Blackfield under suspension.

Horndean are looking to get back to winning ways as they welcome Amesbury Town to Five Heads Park (3pm).

Manager Michael Birmingham believes his side have an added incentive to beat their Wiltshire visitors.

‘If there is one team we owe one to then it is Amesbury who thrashed us 5-2 at their place,’ said Birmingham.

‘They battered us and it could have been a lot worse.

‘We had the wrong attitude and I am looking for us to put that right.’

The home side have Jack Warren back in contention but Ash Howes is on holiday.

AFC Portchester will look to ounce back from their midweek cup disappointment as they host Portland United at the Blanchard Wells Stadium (3pm).
