‘No pressure’ on Harvest Home as they look to end Moneyfields’ remarkable Hampshire Premier League record

Steve Harris insists there’s ‘no pressure’ on his Harvest Home side as they face the toughest test of their debut Hampshire Premier League campaign so far.

Harvest travel to Division 1 leaders Moneyfields Reserves aiming to become the first team ever to beat them in HPL action.

Since entering the league at the start of 2019/20, Moneys have won 22 and drawn two of their 24 games, scoring 104 goals and conceding only 19.

They stormed through the 100-goal barrier last weekend with a 12-0 thrashing of AFC Petersfield - Moneys’ record HPL victory.

‘This is the reason you go up a level,’ said Harris. ‘You want to challenge yourself in these sort of games.

‘They (Moneyfields) are too good for this league, that’s evident by their record.

‘There’s no pressure on us - we’re not expected to win, we’re not expected to get a point, we’re expected to lose.

‘Hopefully we can go out and play with a bit of freedom.’

Harvest go into the game on the back of a shock 3-1 loss at lowly Headley, the first defeat since their opening HPL game on September 2.

They trailed 2-0 inside eight minutes with Nathan Newer grabbing their consolation.

Harris said it was ‘chalk and cheese’ compared to his first game in charge, the previous week’s 8-1 hammering of Silchester.

‘We looked leggy, it reminded me of a pre-season game,’ Harris remarked.

‘The bobbly pitch was a factor, but it wasn’t the main factor.

‘They played the pitch better - we tried to pass it about, they went long.

‘The better team won, but they’re not a better side if you know what I mean - I have no doubts we’ll avenge that defeat at home.’

Harvest have another attractive fixture after the trip to Dover Road - a clash with Denmead at Front Lawn on Monday, December 28.
