Pompey and promotion rivals ready for battle

Tonight sees all four teams occupying the League Two promotion play-off spots do battle.

It’s fourth against fifth, and sixth against seventh.

Pompey’s trip to Accrington and Bristol Rovers’ home clash with Wimbledon could certainly be significant contests in the promotion race.

For all four sides this is a game in hand on the top three who are not in action.

Accrington’s form has dipped going into the home match against Pompey.

They are currently on a run of three games without a win, although they are the closest to the automatic promotion spots.

In Billy Kee they have one of the top players in League Two this season, with 14 goals and 10 assists already.

Bristol Rovers are level on points with Pompey but their recent form is mixed with five wins and four losses in their last 10.

They seem to be getting it together, though, and have won their past two games.

A win tonight against Wimbledon could see them move ahead of either Pompey or Stanley into fourth place.

The form of Matty Taylor is a major part for them, he scored 20 goals last season and is on course to beat that this time around, having scored 17 goals already.

Wimbledon are without a win in the last three matches.

It has dented their charge up the table after they won six out of their previous seven.

Key for them this season has been top scorer Lyle Taylor who has 14 league goals this season.
