Pompey Supporters' Trust sub-group to plot Fratton Park future

Trust board member Mike Saunders revealed the move at tonight’s open meeting for members in the Victory Lounge.

The club is presently agonising over whether to remain at Fratton Park, rebuild Fratton Park or to relocate the ground.

A Pompey Stadium Working Group has already been created, consisting of club chairman Iain McInnes, Peter Lee and Saunders.

Now the Trust are seeking members to join their stadium sub-group, to act as their own advisors.

The initiative will allow Blues supporters to have a say in where Pompey play their football.

And the Trust are urging members to put themselves forward.

Saunders said: ‘At this stage it’s still very early days but it’s vitally important to engage with fans so they can have a say.

‘As a club, in terms of Fratton Park, we can do nothing, rebuild or relocate.

‘We can do nothing but the Milton end is no longer fit for purpose, while areas of the ground need investment to bring them up to modern standards.

‘With option two, there is room to build a 30,000-seater stadium on the land and as a community club a lot of people get their trade from Fratton Park on a match day.

‘The third option is to relocate to a new stadium, but there is not a great deal of land in Portsmouth.

‘PST members are asked to express an interest in being involved and we will in turn set up a meeting to discuss how we can mobilise a group.’
