No Republic of Ireland debut for Portsmouth's Ronan Curtis

The Pompey forward was an unused substitute in his country's 1-1 friendly draw with Poland in Wroclaw on Tuesday night.

Aiden O'Brien broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute only for Mateusz Klich to haul the hosts level with just three minutes remaining.

Curtis, 22, was drafted into Martin O'Neill's squad on Sunday having netted for the under-21s against Kosovo 48 hours earlier.

A lengthy injury list, including skipper Seamus Coleman, left the former Aston Villa boss looking for reinforcements. And Curtis caught the eye.

The attacker has been in scintillating form since joining the Blues from Derry City this summer.

He notched five goals and three assists in his opening six League One outings before linking up with the under-21s.

On Friday, he scored an 82nd-minute leveller in a 1-1 draw against Kosovo in European Championships qualifying.

In his absence, the under-21s suffered a 6-0 home defeat against Germany on Tuesday night.

Curtis, however, was watching as the senior side were held by Poland.

Meanwhile, it is understood the deal agreed with Derry City over Curtis' move to Fratton Park does not contain a clause for further payment in recognition of international honours.

Such a stipulation was not demanded by the Irish club during negotiations over his summer transfer, for a fee believed to be around £100,000.
