Portsmouth boss and forward both up for monthly honoursÂ

Pompey's boss is shortlisted for the division's Manager of the Month, while Curtis is vying for Player of the Month. 

Both impressed the judging panel following a superb August for the Blues. 

Jackett guided Pompey to four victories and a draw last month, equalling the club's best start to a league campaign for 38 years in the process.

There were victories over Luton, Blackpool, Oxford United and Bristol Rovers and a goalless stalemate at Doncaster. 

Also in the reckoning for Manager of the Month are Peterborough boss Steve Evans, Sunderland's Jack Ross and Dean Yates at Walsall.

Evans saw the Posh win all five of their League One matches, while Ross' Black Cats and Yates' Saddlers remained unbeaten and only dropped two points apiece. 

Meanwhile, Curtis made a hurtling start at Fratton Park following his summer switch from Derry City. 

In his five matches in August, the forward scored three goals and registered two assists.

He netted a double in Pompey's 2-1 victory at Blackpool and a late winner in the 2-1 success at Bristol Rovers. 

The Irishman's assist for Jamal Lowe in the Blues' 1-0 opening-day defeat of Luton also proved crucial. 

He faces competition from Peterborough striker Jason Cummings, Sunderland winger Lynden Gooch and Barnsley defender Dimitri Cavare.

Cummings was prolific in front of goal last month.

The Nottingham Forest loanee netted six times in five appearances to fire the Posh top of the League One table.

Cummings bagged braces in wins over Plymouth and Luton, as well as registering against Rochdale and Charlton.

Gooch has been in fine form for Sunderland during the early stage of the season.

He grabbed a 90th-minute winner to hand his side a 2-1 curtain-raiser win over Charlton and delivered four assists last month.

Finally, Cavare helped Barnsley opened their campaign well following their relegation from the Championship. 

Not only was the right-back solid in his defensive duties, helping the Tykes keep four clean sheets, but he was also a threat going forward and created four goals. '‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹
