The Blues were badly running out of ideas, with Abu Kamara the chief culprit towards the end, as the match threatened to peter out for a frustrating goalless draw.
But Kamara was brought down and unpopular referee Craig Hicks pointed to the spot for Bishop to net – and here are our Pompey player ratings...
5. Connor Ogilvie - 7
(Replaced by Jack Sparkes on 61 mins) A first start in October and great to see him back, lining up at left-back and not looking like he'd ever been away. As ever, defensively sound, strong in the air and not giving an inch. Photo: Jason Brown
6. Joe Morrell - 7
Took the captain’s armband in Pack’s absence and was his usual dogged self in the centre of midfield. Needed to get through plenty of work and performs a vital role. Photo: Jason Brown
7. Tom Lowery - 7
Was booked on 28 minutes for tugging back the towering Ikpeazu, but didn’t affect his game and did well alongside Morrell in a number six role. Neat and tidy and another encouraging showing as he eases his way back. Photo: Jason Brown
8. Myles Peart-Harris - 8 - MOM
A delight to watch, so many lovely touches and brimming with attacking intent. Great chance on 48 minutes when shot straight at the keeper with plenty of time and also drew a 75th-minute save. Highlight was one sumptuous volleyed diagonal pass in the second half. Photo: Jason Brown
