The left-back has been recalled by parent-club Birmingham City after spending the first half of the season on loan at the Wombles.

Seddon scored one goal in 19 appearances for the Londoners but Brum exercised their option to cut his spell at Plough Lane short.

The Reading-born ace joined Pompey on loan last January and made a scintillating impact. He bagged once in 21 games as the Blues suffered play-off semi-final defeat to Oxford.

Kenny Jackett was keen to bring Seddon back to Fratton Park in the summer. However, Birmingham wanted to keep the full-back around for pre-season and Pompey instead recruited Cam Pring.

Reports suggest that Bristol City could recall Pring next month, however, to cover injuries at Ashton Gate.

Should Pring depart then Pompey would likely look to recruit a new left-back to compete with Lee Brown for a starting spot.

Seddon would be an option most of the Fratton faithful would welcome if the Blues renewed their interest.

But should he feature for Birmingham against Blackburn on Saturday then Seddon would only be allowed to rejoin Wimbledon if he was to head back out on loan.

FIFA rules state players can only represent two clubs in a season.
