FA dismiss Portsmouth red card appeal after Jack Whatmough's Lincoln dismissal

The FA regulatory commission this afternoon backed referee Sam Purkiss’ decision to dismiss the defender for a first-half challenge on Jorge Grant on Tuesday night.

Whatmough will now serve a three-match ban starting against Charlton this weekend.

Pompey boss Kenny Jackett: ‘We felt we had a reasonable case but we, of course, accept the decision of the referee and the panel.’
