And the Westleigh Park manager is planning a final chat with Blues boss Kenny Jackett tomorrow before making a decision.

The American stopper has been on a brief trial at the National League South outfit with a view to a short-term switch.

He featured in the Hawks' 5-1 friendly win at Horndean on Saturday as well as their opening pre-season fixture at AFC Totton the week previous.

The Blues are keen get Turnbull out on loan to give him some much-needed game time, with both Alex Bass and Craig MacGillivray ahead of him in the goalkeeping pecking order.

Pompey also want to free up space within their ranks as they only have three places remaining following the introduction of a squad limit of 22 players.

However, Turnbull’s playing time could be restricted at Westleigh Park should he make the move, with Ross Worner Doswell's preferred choice in goal.

Now the Hawks boss faces a decision on whether to take Turnbull on loan or not.

Doswell said: ‘That’s him done now (trial period).

‘I’m going to ring Kenny and have a chat with him.

‘I’ll talk to Kenny and then we’ll make a decision then, we haven’t made our minds up yet.

‘We’ll be making a call on that probably tomorrow after we’ve trained.’

Turnbull has not been tested a great amount in either of the Hawks' friendlies.

But Doswell feels being able to take a look at the American in two pre-season matches has been beneficial.

‘He did okay (against Horndean),' added the Hawks boss.

‘Again, there wasn’t a massive amount for him to do.

‘It’s just looking at everything really.’
