But as we wait for number 23 to arrive, with Josh Griffiths edging closer to a Fratton Park switch, we’ve decided to take a look back at the players the Blues manager has turned to in a bid to achieve success on the south coast – and offered an opinion on whether they are or have been a hit or a miss.
Here’s the judgement we’ve made, with emergency keeper Jake Eastwood not included given the very brief period he spent on loan from Sheffield United.
17. Ollie Webber
The keeper was brought in to act as cover for Gavin Bazunu while Alex Bass was sent out on loan. He never made an appearance following his January arrival from Crystal Palace and has since left Fratton Park. In truth, he did what was asked of him. But with the Blues keen to add to their goalkeeping ranks, he would have been kept on if a good impression had been made.

18. Aiden O'Brien
At the time, the forward's January arrival from Sunderland disappointed many, with sections of the Fratton faithful expecting more from the Blues as the window neared its closure . Yet come the end of the season and five goals in 17 outings, the fanfare had begun for the striker to extend his short-term deal. He quickly established himself as a fans' favourite - hence the current disappointment that O'Brien is yet to sign the Pompey contract currently in front of him.

19. Hayden Carter
The fact both Danny Cowley and the Fratton faithful would love the Blackburn defender back at Fratton Park following his successful loan spells says it all.

20. Tyler Walker
The fact that no-one is demanding the former Coventry loanee returns to Fratton Park says it all. But just in case you are still not sure, let these stats help you - 15 appearances, one goal.
