Marquis picked up his fourth yellow card of the season in the Blues' 1-0 defeat to Blackpool on Tuesday evening.

In the second half, he went down just outside the box as Pompey chased an equaliser.

However, he was adjudged to have dived by referee Josh Smith and was cautioned for simulation.

Marquis now needs to ensure he doesn't go into the book for the next four matches, having also been carded in away trips to Gillingham, Lincoln and Plymouth earlier this season.

FA rules state that players who pick up five cautions by the 19-match cut-off point will be forced to serve a one-match.

Marquis also was handed a card in the 4-0 Carabao Cup loss to Brighton but bans are competition specific.

The likes of Ryan Williams, Lee Brown, Ellis Harrison and Callum Johnson have been cautioned twice.
