Kenny Jackett hoping for positive news on Ellis Harrison injury - but striker is a doubt for Gillingham trip

However, the Blues boss admitted the striker was a doubt for Tuesday’s trip to Gillingham.

Just 24 hours after Pompey failed to add to their forward ranks on transfer deadline day, Harrison presented them with a headache as he limped off after suffering what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

He was replaced on 63 minutes by John Marquis – the Blues’ only other recognised senior centre-forward.

And with the Blues now registering three blanks in six League One fixtures so far this season, any Harrison absence will represent a blow to the Blues’ hopes of overcoming an indifferent start to the season.

Jackett was hopeful any assessment carried out on the forward would provide positive news.

But until then, he admitted he could be sidelined for Tuesday’s trip to Priestland in midweek.

Pompey then travel to Sunderand next Saturday.

Jackett said: ‘He (Harrison) has a slight issue, whether it’s a hamstring or his glute, or whatever.

‘He’s not too bad.

‘Hopefully he’s not out too long. I’m not sure whether he’ll be fit for Tuesday.

‘The initial assessment we hope is not too bad.’
