The Blues created little of attacking note for much of the afternoon at Fratton Park, before a late charge saw them pushing for the three points.

But a combination of poor decision making and execution along with the visitor’s stubborn defending, meant it finished goalless.

Jackett took the plus point of a clean sheet but knew his side weren’t good enough in key areas.

He said: ‘We’re disappointed and wanted the win.

‘We were playing against good players with a lot of power, so you have to find the right combinations.

‘We had a good period and several very, very good positions but we couldn’t convert, find the right ball or the right positions to finish.

‘It’s pleasing to get a second clean sheet and we want to be defensively strong, but not at the expense of scoring goals.’
