According to a club Tweet, Andy Cannon (groin) and Jack Whatmough (hamstring) ‘have a chance of being fit’ for the game at Home Park.

However, both Sean Raggett and Tom Naylor ‘have knocks and haven’t trained’ as the Blues focus their concentration on the Pilgrims.

News that both Cannon and Whatmough will be potentially fit for the game, which will be shown live on Sky Sports, represents a massive boost.

The match was deemed too soon in coming around, especially after Cannon suffered his groin injury on last Saturday in the FA Cup win at Ipswich.

However, doubts about Raggett and Naylor’s availability is a huge set-back.

The former has played every minute of every league game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Naylor would have been in the same category but was forced off against Lincoln two weeks ago because of cramp.

Kenny Jackett said: ‘It will be a busy weekend for us to assess them but either way, our side will be ready come Monday.’

Pompey are already without Ronan Curtis (international duty), Lee Brown (hamstring) and Michael Jacobs (knee).
