Lincoln have extended their lead at the top of League One – yet it represents encouraging news for Pompey followers.

The Imps had appeared to be heading for a 2-1 success over Accrington after Tom Hopper struck in the 84th minute in this evening’s clash.

However, Stanley’s Dion Charles netted a leveller deep into stoppage time to secure a dramatic point for the visitors.

Charles had earlier given Stanley the lead against Michael Appleton’s men with a sixth-minute goal.

That was cancelled out by Morgan Rogers in the 53rd minute, the on-loan Manchester City attacker who had also netted against Pompey last month.

Restricted to a point, the 2-2 outcome now stretches Lincoln’s lead to four points ahead of second-placed Hull, who yesterday suffered a shock home defeat to MK Dons.

Fourth-placed Pompey are five points adrift with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Oxford United came from behind against Wigan to continue applying the pressure to the top six.

Karl Robinson’s men were trailing to Callum Lang’s 56th-minute goal.

Sam Winnall equalised on 72 minutes, before defender Elliott Moore grabbed the winner seven minutes from time.

The U’s have now won 12 from their last 14 matches in all competitions and are rapidly catching up with the League One promotion race.

Now placed in seventh, they are five points short of the Blues, having played the same amount of games.
