Marie Curtis' frank message to son Ronan Curtis and Portsmouth's players after poor start to League One season

The Blues’ frustrating opening to the League One campaign continued with a 1-0 defeat to Doncaster on Saturday.

Pompey were uninspiring throughout as Reece James’ 79th-minute strike condemned the home side to a second loss at Fratton Park this term.

The under-fire Kenny Jackett has come in for more pressure from fans, with many bemoaning the lack of creativity and ideas going forward.

There were few clear-cut chances created from open play, which has been a similar story in other early games.

But Marie said that all the blame cannot fall on the Blues boss for poor performances and some of the burden needs to be taken by the players.

Ronan Curtis hasn't been exempt by his mum, either, as he again could not hit the heights he’s capable of against Doncaster.

Marie wrote on Twitter: ‘If we want to get to championship then we need play better than this can’t figure it out players including my son need take responsibility but hopefully think about it get there heads in right place for Tuesday hard fixtures coming our way.

We can’t blame manager all the time players have to take responsibility you put shirt on they should be busting their guts out every game that goes for Ronan as well we have great team we just need prove it we can do it.’
