The centre-back reckons the title is still wide open for Pompey as the season reaches a crescendo.

The Blues are firmly in the race for automatic promotion with 11 matches remaining.

They sit third in the table and three points behind second-placed Rotherham, having played a game fewer.

Coventry currently set the pace at the summit and have a five-point cushion on Pompey.

But given how close the chase for the Championship is, Raggett believes league positions can quickly change if their rivals drop points.

That’s why the on-loan Norwich defender reckons the Blues are still in the running to finish as champions.

Raggett said: ‘We know if we drop points then a lot of the teams around us will pick some up.

‘But there will be times when we pick up points and some of the other teams will drop points, so we’ve got to drop fewer points than them basically.

‘I was on loan at Rotherham last season and I know how they work there.

‘It’s no coincidence they're up there. They're a very fit side, a very organised side so I think they have a good shot.

‘I think first spot is still massively open. One of those two spots is what we’re aiming for. We’ve got a game in hand on Rotherham and we've still got to play them, so there’s a swing.

‘All of the teams around it have a very good chance because they’ve all got good players, so it’s going to be tough but we will back ourselves.

‘Teams were running away with the league at the start but it’s a tough league and can catch up on you if you lose a few games.

‘I’m sure there will be a lot of twists from now until the end of the season.’

Pompey travel to eighth-placed Peterborough on Saturday.

A defeat at London Road could see the Blues drop out of the play-off places should Sunderland, Fleetwood and Oxford win their respective games.

There’s little margin for error – but Raggett is relishing the pressure.

He added: ‘You always have a little look and see how the other teams got on.

‘There’s a little bit of pressure and that’s what I love – I think a lot of the boys do because it adds a bit to your game.’
