Pompey were held to a hugely frustrating goalless draw on an afternoon which could have seen them top League One.
John Mousinho’s men weren’t good enough to break down a stubborn Cheltenham as the Fratton Park fixture finished goalless and was greeted with boos by some at the final whistle.
The match ran on almost 30 minutes late after a total of two linesmen had to be replaced following injury, including asking a qualified official from hospitality to step in during the second half.
(Replaced by Paddy Lane on 90 +22 minutes) Had a first-half backheel which flashed just wide and a second-half free-kick which narrowly whistled over, but generally couldn’t get involved enough to provide the attacking spark. Photo: Jason Brown
(Replaced by Jack Sparkes on 82 minutes) Still looking for a sustained run of form and not quite gelling with Ogilvie as a left-sided partnership yet. However, continues to be glimpses and shows good work-rate and flashes of skill. Photo: Jason Brown
Intriguing battle with Curtis Davies, while Freestone tried to stop him by fair means or foul at times. But not given enough service, while unable to make things happen for himself. Photo: Jason Brown
(Replaced by Abu Kamara on 82 minutes) Second-half cross from the left was headed against the inside of the post by Poole, but couldn’t really get at the full-back enough to find a breakthrough. Photo: Jason Brown
