And the former Moneyfields amateur is looking to show his Pompey allegiances to the nationwide audience when doing so.

McKinson will wear a pair of bespoke blue boots for the clash emblazoned with the star and crescent and ‘play up Pompey’.

It’s the 28-year-old’s own way of underlining his roots and connection with both the city and its football club.

McKinson said: ‘I’m buzzing with the boots.

‘I think they look unreal and I can’t wait to wear them on the night.

‘Everyone knows I’m a proud Pompey boy, and it’s just my way of showing what it means for me to represent my city.

‘The professional boxing scene in Portsmouth is going really well and I feel I’m flying the flag for it.

‘I’ve got a dangerous hard-hitting opponent in front me, one I can’t underestimate.

‘I’d love to bring a huge show to the city in 2023 - but first I need to take care of business and end the year on a high.’
