Kenny Jackett’s side beat Ipswich 3-2 after extra-time at Portman Road to book their place in the second round of the competition.

Sean Raggett’s controversial late winner earned the visitors victory, after Jon Nolan and James Norwood had cancelled out early strikes from Ronan Curtis and Tom Naylor.

The win pocketed Pompey an additional £16,972 in prize money – on top of the £32,500 they receive for the game being selected for live multi-camera coverage on the BBC and BT Sport digital platforms.

Improved monies will be available when details of the second-round ties are revealed, with the draw taking place on Monday night.

But despite the welcome addition of prize money, Eisner made clear that the league tops his priority list.

Welcoming news of a Pompey cup victory against one of their main League One promotion rivals, he simply tweeted: ‘Always nice to get a win in the #FACup. Now to beat Ipswich in the league. #pompey.’

The Blues head back to Ipswich on Saturday, December 12, with three points at stake rather than cup clout.

At present Jackett & Co sit seventh in the table on 20 points.

The Tractor Boys, however, are two points better off in second place.
