‘It had to be him’, appeared to be the common theme among tweets following the Tractor Boys’ opener on 25 minutes.

Meanwhile, the fact that another former Blue, Conor Chaplin, claimed an assist for Harness’ goal wasn’t lost on the Pompey Twittersphere either.

The former Burton man moved to Ipswich in the summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £750,000.

And he’s made a success of his switch so far, with today’s first-half strike his sixth of the season.

In the build-up to the game, Pompey boss Danny Cowley admitted it wasn’t his first preference to sell the winger to a promotion rival.

So it came as little surprise to Blues fans that Harness would come up with the goods against his former side.

Harness was replaced on 73 minutes with the score at 1-1, with Colby Bishop equalising from the penalty spot for the visitors before half-time.

However, despite former Accrington man Bishop – who was signed thanks to the money received for Harness – scoring a second from the spot after the break, it was Ipswich who ran out 3-2 winners to end the Blues’ unbeaten start to the season.
