Portsmouth looking at selling fan cardboard cutouts for play-off clash against Oxford

Chief commercial officer, Anna Mitchell, confirmed in the latest meeting of the Tony Goodhall Fans’ Conference (TGFC) that the Blues are hoping supporters will at least be able to attend the crunch clash against Oxford United in spirit.

Cutouts of fans have filled Bundesliga stadia since their season recommenced behind closed doors last month amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Around 13,000 were inside Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Borussia Park for their clash against Bayer Leverkusen last month.

Meanwhile, Brighton have offered fans the same opportunity for the final five games of their Premier League campaign, which gets under way when they welcome Arsenal to the Amex Stadium next weekend.

The Seagulls are charging £20 and a percentage of profits being donated to the Albion as One Fund.

And while Pompey have yet to release details on how much a cutout might cost for the play-off first leg against Oxford on Friday, July 3, it’s something the club are weighing up.

The minutes of the TGFC on June 10 read: ‘Spencer Green (chairman of Pompey Armed Forces Supporters' Club) asked if there were any plans for home leg to give Pompey an edge.

‘Anna confirmed they were looking at selling cardboard cut-outs as seen in Bundesliga. There were two options she was looking at.

‘Anna said that the EFL had advised games not available on i-follow only on Sky. Tony (Brown) advised fans could buy monthly Now TV Pass for £20 which would cover both games.’
