It means Kenny Jackett’s side are undergoing their own training programmes at home.

Speaking on video posted by Pompey's Twitter account, Close said: ‘It's so important right now that we listen to our government and do as they say.

‘We should only be leaving our home when it is essential. That is going to work, if we’re still working, collecting food from the supermarket or for medical reasons.

‘If we are out of our house, we need to try to stay at least two metres away from everybody at all times.

‘And, of course, keep washing those hands regularly.

'Stay at home and save lives.’

Close has scored six goals in 44 appearances for Pompey this campaign.
