Portsmouth players are already on the beach - and loyal supporters deserve so much more than that

The Twittersphere was a pretty grim place to be in the wake of the terrible Cheltenham defeat – here’s a taste of what Pompey fans were saying.

#Pompey fans will be here long after the current owners, CEO, manager and players have moved on. Deserve so much better.

@PompeyNewsNow

Pompey give a perfect demonstration of why they will end this season far away from the promotion picture. Clear that several players are mentally already on the beach. Total inability to time and weight final ball.

I so want The Cowleys to take us all the way, really I do, but I'm beginning to question their ability to get the best out of our players, and we've some very good ones. #Pompey just haven't been good enough this season, and they have to take a large portion of the blame. Sorry.

@PropPersonnel

I’m prepared to let the Cowleys have their 3 transfer windows as they stated but if we’re not in the top six by the Jan window then serious questions need to be asked to the board and manger #pompey

Cowley makes it hard to support him. I really want him to be a success, but the constant tinkering & odd decisions invite criticism. We are facing our lowest finish since promotion. Making Jackett look amazing. Not good enough. #Pompey

@dfearnley

I don’t think Pompey have a single forward thinking attacking player that would be part of a promotion winning team. That’s quite some rebuild needed.

I’m sure the most positive/optimistic of #pompey fans are struggling to get enthused by the club at the moment. A forgettable season. Next season is a worry for me. Will the recruitment be good enough to at least offer some excitement? Boring as hell this season.

@Lawro77

What’s depressing at #pompey is that recently we’ve had players who excite fans. Lowe, Roberts even Kyle Bennett would beat a man. No one excites me when they get the ball in our team. No magic at all. Just bang average.

@RoryPeter7

1 game in 18 days and we play like that? Players aren't interested. Not playing for the club, the manager, the city, the owners or the fans. Shocking but unsurprising.

@PompeyVeteran

Until our owners invest properly in a forward line we’ll continue to stagnate and go backwards. We don’t concede many but since Pitman and Lowe left we’ve offered nothing as a decent collective attacking unit. Quotes this week don’t offer much hope for future quite frankly #Pompey
