Portsmouth's EFL Trophy Wembley final against Salford put back to 2021
Football League chiefs have further delayed a decision on when the postponed final between the Blues and Salford City will be rearranged for.
The situation will now be examined at the end of this year – with an eye on Wembley staging the fixture in 2021.

Hide AdThe final was meant to be played in April 2020, with Pompey selling more than 51,000 tickets.
However, the coronavirus outbreak forced the match’s postponement, along with all football fixtures in the Premier League and Football League.
Now they have provided an update.
An EFL spokesman today said: ‘The EFL has today met with representatives from both Portsmouth and Salford City in respect of the 2020 EFL Trophy Final, postponed as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Hide Ad‘All parties have agreed to revisit the options at the end of the year, with the primary objective remaining to find a suitable date in 2021 for a rescheduled final to take place with as many supporters in attendance as possible.
‘The match therefore remains postponed and the EFL will advise of any further developments as soon as they are available.’
Pompey remain holders of the Checkatrade Trophy following their March 2019 victory over Sunderland.
