The Rangers loanee is out to maintain his impressive run of assists over the final nine games of the season.

McCrorie has bagged four assists in as many starts and three substitute appearances for Kenny Jackett’s side, since putting his hamstring issues behind him.

The latest of those arrived against Fleetwood on Tuesday night, as he provided a fine diagonal pass for Sean Raggett’s header.

The Scotland under-21 captain also bagged assists against Shrewsbury, MK Dons and Exeter in the Leasing.com Trophy from the right-back position.

McCrorie explained manning the supply line for his team-mates goals was something he’d been aiming to achieve down the right flank.

He said: ‘I was definitely targeting getting a few assists before I picked up my injury.

‘So I’ve been glad that I’ve been able to do that - and I just want to kick on now.

‘I like to create and go forward.

‘They’ve been happening since I came back and it would be good to get a few more.’

McCrorie underlined that although he’s chasing more assists he’s acutely aware that can’t be to the detriment of his defensive duties.

The 21-year-old is competing with James Bolton in the right-back role and is perhaps seen as the most offensive player of the pair.

He added: ‘I’m targeting more but I’m a defender first and foremost.

‘The main thing is to be able to help the team to promotion and be able to get a win at Wembley.

‘I want to to help the team as best I can and my aim when I play right-back is to create and go forward.

‘I’m aware I’ve got a job defensively to do as well, though.’
