According to The Athletic, the 45-year-old was relieved of his first-team coaching duties at Selhurst Park by manager Patrick Vieira after losing his cool with the Eagles players on more than one occasion.
That led Vieira to part company with the former Palace midfielder this week, nearly three-and-a-half-years after his return to the club following managerial spells at Notts County and Cambridge, plus a coaching role at Oxford United.

The clash of styles was apparently evident in the immediate aftermath of Palace’s 3-0 defeat to Everton back in October.
It’s reported that Vieira entered the away changing room at Goodison to see Derry berating the players for their performance and not showing enough pride in representing the badge.
Palace are currently 12th in the table with one win in their past seven Premier League fixtures. They travel to Manchester United today ahead of a 3pm kick-off.

Hide AdSpeaking about Derry’s dismissal before the Old Trafford game, Vieira said: 'This is the decision that I made. I can confirm he is not a part of the staff.
'I don't want to go into details but, of course, he was an important figure, he played (for the club), he was the captain here.
'I don't want to go into details. He's been good to this club.'
Derry featured 55 times for Pompey after arriving at Fratton Park in March 2000 for £300,000 from Sheffield United.
