Ross McCrorie has been named in the latest Scotland under-21 squad.

The on-loan Rangers ace has been called up to Scot Gemmill’s outfit for their Euro qualification games against Croatia and Greece respectively.

Those matches take place on March 27 and March 31, meaning the 21-year-old will miss Pompey’s trip to promotion rivals Oxford United on Saturday, March 28.

McCrorie has made 21 Blues appearances during his season-long loan from Rangers.

This term he’s been joined in the Scotland international set-up by team-mate Craig MacGillivray.

Senior manager Steve Clarke is expected to name his squad for their Euro 2020 play-off semi-final against Israel on March 26 next week.

If MacGillivray, who hasn’t featured for Pompey in the league since the visit to MK Dons on December 29, is included, he too will miss the trip to Oxford.

However, the Kassam Stadium game could be postponed if Ronan Curtis is named in the Republic of Ireland squad for their play-off clash against Slovakia.

That match in Bratislava will be played behind closed doors on the instruction of the Slovakian government because of the coronavirus.

Three-times capped Curtis missed out on selection for Ireland’s games against New Zealand and Denmark respectively in November.

However, he’s impressed manager Mick McCarthy in recent weeks, with the Eire boss visiting Fratton Park to take in Pompey’s win against Shrewsbury last month.
