Both the Premier League and Football League are out of action until April 3 in a bid to contain the threat of coronavirus.

Should the season subsequently be scrapped, it will deprive the Blues of four Fratton Park matches.

That total reaches five home games when also accounting for the withdrawal of Bury from League One earlier in the campaign.

And Spencer Green, chairman of Portsmouth Armed Forces Supporters’ Club, thinks fans should be entitled to money back if such a scenario occurred.

He said: ‘The correct decision has been made by the EFL to suspend matches, it’s for the greater good, health is far more important than a football season.

‘In regards of the football club, should the season end early, I would like them to offer refunds for season tickets and tickets purchased.

‘I know the situation is not the club’s fault, but it also isn’t the fans’ fault. They paid to see a certain amount of home games this season and are not going to be able to see them.

‘A refund should be the done thing – and I think the owners should advocate that.

‘Some supporters are still waiting for their refund from the Bury game being scrapped. It was on the agenda to raise at the Tony Goodall Fans’ Conference on Saturday until it was postponed.

‘I believe season-ticket holders pay around £18 a game. I realise it’s not a great deal of money, but this is a working-class city and refunds should be issued.’

The Portsmouth Armed Forces Supporters’ Club were scheduled to have a Q&A with chief executive Mark Catlin on Wednesday, March 18.

However, that is among a raft of cancellations of club events following the increased threat of coronavirus.

Green added: ‘We all want this season to end properly, otherwise it’s like pausing a film and not watching the end.

‘We want it to come to a conclusion, whether that’s automatic promotion or the play-offs.’
