The Portsmouth games former Preston man Joe Rafferty is expected to miss following news of surgery

The News understands the defender could miss up to seven games – including today’s match at Ipswich – following surgery on a problematic stomach muscle injury.
The former Preston man had already missed two games prior to this afternoon’s trip to Portman Road, with his last appearance coming during the 2-1 win against Peterborough on September 3.

Hide AdThe 28-year-old had established himself as a regular at right-back for Danny Cowley this season, following his free transfer move from Deepdale.
He’d played eight times before being struck by injury, despite Cowley also bringing in Arsenal youngster Zak Swanson in the summer.
In Rafferty’s absence, left-back Connor Ogilvie has been deputising on the right-hand side of the back four.
Charlton (away), Forest Green (away) and Oxford (home) are among the games the Republic of Ireland man is expected to miss.
